The Cerritos College Puente club
offers students at Cerritos a unique and unforgettable experience. Its an excellent opportunity to meet new people, participate
in community service, and acquire the tools to have a fun and successful time while attending Cerritos college. The Puente program itself is divided into two components that
work closely together.
The first part of the program is the class component, which consists of a learning community, English
52 and CG 200 in the fall and English 100 and CG 2 in the spring, taught by counselor and club advisor Mr. Soto, and English
professor Mrs. Gonzales Mootz. The class also offers a unique mentor partnership in which students are partnered with real
world professional.
The second part to the program is the Puente club. It’s run by students and is the main support
for the class component. The club participates in fundraising, on campus events as well as off campus events, and a once a
year trip to UC Berkeley. You will also have the opportunity to participate in leadership conferences like L.C.L.I (Latina/o
College Leadership Institute). It is also a great oppertunity to get to know new and interesting people at Cerritos College.
Anyone interested in joining can join either the club or the
class. For information on the class component contact Armando Soto at the counseling officer at Cerritos College
